The House of Wynne has definitely become Tyler’s most unique shopping experience as an “updated antique mall” with a wonderful mix of merchandise. Since I bought the business in May 2017, the concept of the store has stayed consistent with 18+ antique dealers displayed in individual booths with the addition of many lines of gifts, local art, jewelry, vintage garden items and new furniture and accessories. Excellent customer service is our goal; therefore, we are available to help with gift selections of all types, consignment sales, provide a wealth of antique and design knowledge plus gift and small furniture delivery. A small room in the back of the store is available to rent for pop-up shops, meetings, garden clubs, seminars and card groups.
Opening The House of Wynne has been truly a dream come true for me. I have wanted to own my own store since I was a little girl “working” for my great aunt, Gertrude Hill, at Hillside Dress Shop on East Erwin next to Sam R. Hill Lumber Company. My main responsibilities were straightening the hangers and picking up straight pins out of the carpeted dressing rooms. I was extremely proud of how efficient I was at my important job!
My valuable experiences leading up to this point in time have prepared me for the incredible opportunity of owning a retail store. I have retail in my blood! When the prospect to buy Silver Lining Antiques from Carla Sallee in Bergfeld Center came about, I truly felt a calling to do it. From day one, I have worked with the antique dealers to create a store where we would want to shop ourselves (and we are pretty picky shoppers!) and create a pleasant atmosphere for our customers to spend precious time.
Customers always ask how the name of the store was selected. It was one of the most difficult decisions. A name to fit a new business that might evolve over time but remain classic and stand the test of time…….also, a name that you don’t mind saying repeatedly. In trying to create a name for the store, I kept coming back to “house or home”. I always want the store to feel like you are in someone’s home and enjoying being a guest. I want it to be a warm, welcoming, pretty place to browse, shop and enjoy. The name, The House of Wynne, seemed like the perfect fit for my vision of the perfect store.
Please stop by to visit, browse and shop with us! We receive new merchandise every week, which makes the shopping (and working) experience so much more fun. We look forward to sharing “The House” with all of you!
